worry..worry..

On 20th Jan, we brought our maid, Bibik for a medical checkup for her visa renewal in Kuantan Specialist Hospital KSH. Actually we should have brought her on Nov as her visa expires on 10th Feb (as required in the immigration letter, must go for medical checkup 3 months before the expiry date). Feeling positive that her medical checkup is all clear, we thought we have enough time to go to the immigration for the visa renewal. UNFORTUNATELY, on 29th Jan (few days back) KSH called my hand phone, telling me the most astonishing news......! Bibik is Hepatitis B carrier, meaning she CANNOT continue working here. :(( FOMEMA won’t approve our application and so does the immigration.

Hepatitis B carrier is hazardous. They may not feel sick but can still spread the hepatitis B virus to other people. After getting opinions from Dr Naznin and Tokki, the best thing to do is to send her back and hire a new one. I’m so much in blues, because I will lose a good assistant. Bibik has been working with us for almost one year without any apparent difficulty. She has a very good religious background, cares for her solat. We are so much assured with her employment and her concern to our family, especially Hanan & Hasif. She took a good care of us during my confinement and the kids now are attached to her. Bibik is a single parent of a 9 years old daughter.

Unfortunately, Pak Mus (who attained us the maid) already quitted from being an agent for Indonesian workers. I already met him and told about my condition, but what I understood from him, he only can help us deal with the immigration.

Do I have the right to ask for a replacement from the Indonesian agent? This is neither our decision nor Bibik's. As in the agreement (with the Indonesian agent), Bibik has to work with the same employer in Malaysia for 2 years contract. If we have to send her back due to this medical problem, will we have to support her ticket, and then spent another RM3K+ to hire a new maid?? I’m so suspicious with her previous medical report done in Indonesia. Stated there, her HBsAg is non-reactive, meaning she is not a Hepatitis B carrier. Is the report reliable?
